Medical Content Creation: What is a Medical Content Creator?

This is a blog article about what general medical content creation is and the medical content creator who creates it.

I have a simple question. What is a medical content creator? The simple answer is anyone who creates medical content, obviously. However, the bigger question is what is medical content? The answer to that question is a bit more involved.

Medical content is anything having to do with health and medicine. Over the years, I have seen many examples of this type of content. The topics range from anything having to do with lifestyle and fitness to medical research and everything in between. For the purposes of the medical content in which I am interested, I define medical content as healthcare and medical information in the field of medicine.

With this in mind, a medical content creator takes information from the medical and healthcare arena and packages it into communication parcels for others to consume.
With this in mind, a medical content creator takes information from the medical and healthcare arena and packages it into communication parcels for others to consume. The construct of this information is dependent upon the target demographics of those who the medical content creator is interested in appealing to and the communication format that the medical content creator is most comfortable using. The information that is chosen to be used in the content creation is derived from the medical area of interested and the motivation of the content creator. The initial development of a medical content creator is determined by the information that the creator wants to relay to the community and why the creator is relaying that information.

So, if you want to become a medical content creator, you need to answer a few questions:

1. Why are you interested in communicating medical information?

2. What medical information are you interested in communicating?

3. How do you plan on communicating this medical information?

The answers to these questions vary widely among individual creators and really speak to the numerous opportunities that are available to create medical content and the manner in which an individual formulates that information to distribute to others.

In this series, I am going to explore the “why”, “what”, and “how” of medical content creation with real-life examples. But, before I get started into those specifics, I am going to explain how I got started in becoming a medical content creator...in the next posting.

Do you see yourself as a medical content creator? If so, what is your "why", "what", and "how"?
